Weekly COVID-19 update

VGP - Viet Nam has reported 22 imported cases of COVID-19 from September 28 to October 4, raising the patient tally to 1,096, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Among the latest imported cases, four are foreign experts, including two from Chinese Taipei, one from Russia, and one from India. The other cases are Vietnamese nationals repatriated from Russia (17 nationals) and Japan (one national).

Today marks the 33rd consecutive days Viet Nam has gone without community infections.

Of the country's patient tally, 691 are local infections and the rest are imported cases quarantined immediately upon arrival.

The death toll from the disease remained at 35, most of them were elderly people with serious underlying conditions. 

So far, 1,020 patients have recovered and exited hospitals and more importantly there are now no patients in critical conditions.

Among current 76 active patients, one has tested negative for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, two twice and four thrice.

Some 16,477 people who had close contacts with COVID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are placed under isolation and medically surveillance nationwide./.
