UK returnee tests positive for COVID-19, patient tally rises to 1,098

VGP – A female student repatriated from the UK became the latest COVID-19 in Viet Nam, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The student, aged 26, landed at Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Nam on October 2 on flight VN0054 and was quarantined in nearby Hai Duong Province.

On October 4, she developed symptoms of cough, fever and sore throat and tested positive for the virus the following day.

The patient is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

The same day, patient numbered 1,061 was declared free of COVID-19, raising the total recoveries to 1,023, the National Steering Committee said.

At present, the nation is placing 14,373 people under quarantine and medical surveillance, of whom 268 are being isolated at hospitals, 11,614 at concentrated sites and 2,.491 at places of residence./.
