Two US returnees test positive for COVID-19

VGP – Two Vietnamese people repatriated from the US were confirmed contracting COVID-19 on Thursday afternoon, bringing the patient tally to 1,124.

Specifically, patient 1,123 is a 68-year old woman from Gia Tan Commune, Thong Nhat District of the Southern province of Dong Nai.

Patient 1,124 is a 55-year old man from An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District of the central city of Da Nang.

The pair landed at the Van Don International Airport in the Northern province of Quang Ninh on October 11 and were quarantined immediately in Hung Yen Province.

They had their sample collected by the Hung Yen Center for Diseases Control on October 13 and were confirmed positive for the virus by the National Institute for Hygiene and Epidemiology the following day.

The latest patients are being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

The same day, patient numbered 1,077 was declared free of COVID-19, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,030./.
