VN to send three more officers to UN peace keeping operations in Africa

VGP – Viet Nam will send three more military officers to join the United Nations peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic and South Sudan.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung and Lieutenant Colonel Ly Thanh Tam will work as military observers in South Sudan, while Major Dao Duy Tung will undertake his duty as an information advisory officer in the Central African Republic.

Major General Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Viet Nam Department of Peacekeeping Operations stated that the aforesaid officers are well trained to meet the professional demands of UN peacekeeping missions.

Since engaging in the UN peace keeping operations six years ago, Viet Nam has dispatched a total of 53 military officers, including four women, to the two African countries.

In addition, the Southeast Asian nation sent 126 nurses and doctors, including 20 women, to field hospitals in South Sudan./.
