In 2020, the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) continues to be used as criteria to assess the sustainable development of businesses.

The CSI covers four areas, namely sustainable development, administration, the environment, and labour.

They were selected from the more than 500 enterprises that had qualified after the preliminary round.

At the ceremony, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh presented flowers and certificates to representatives of the 100 sustainable enterprises.

2020 marks the fifth year of the CSI programme, which was born after the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with 17 goals.

Speaking at the ceremony, VCCI Chairman Vu Tien Loc praised the contribution of local and international enterprises in economic development in Viet Nam.

“There is no sustainable economic growth without a sustainable business community,” said Loc.

Mr. Loc stated that the CSI programme has received the positive response of the business community as well as the government’s recognition of its impacts on promoting sustainable development.

He added that the VCCI will work on modified versions of CSI applicable to ultra-small, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large ones.

Organised annually since 2016, the Top 100 sustainable businesses in Viet Nam programme aimed to promote awareness about the importance and benefits of sustainable development in businesses, communities and society./.
