Viet Nam Airlines flight attendant prosecuted for spreading COVID-19

The 28-year-old flight attendant returned to Viet Nam on November 14 and was sent to a quarantine facility managed by the national flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines in Ho Chi Minh City from November 14-18.

After two negative COVID-19 tests, he was allowed to go home for self-isolation. During his home isolation, he had been in contact with his mothers and two friends, including an English teacher.

On November 28, the flight attendant was tested for the third time and the outcomes turned out that he was positive for the virus.

On December 1, Viet Nam reported two domestically-transmitted cases of COVID-19, a one-year-old child and a 28-year-old student, both traced back to an English language teacher who had come into close contact with patient 1342.

Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Public Security Nguyen Sy Quang said that while the entire political system is exerting efforts to control the disease, one subjective and unconscious person can lead to serious consequences.

Violations in the case resulted in serious consequences, so individuals and organizations concerned must be strictly handled with, he stressed.

As of late January 11, 2021, Viet Nam confirmed 1,515 COVID-19 patients, of whom 1,361 have recovered and exited hospitals while 35 others have been reported dead.
