Foxconn invests US$ 270 mln project in Bac Giang

VGP - Foxconn Technology Co Ltd got a license to build a US$ 270 million plant capable of producing eight million laptops and tablets per year in the northern province of Bac Giang.

So far, Foxconn has invested US$1.5 billion in Viet Nam and plans to raise its investment by US$700 million and recruit 10,000 more local workers this year.

Foxconn began investing in Viet Nam during 2007 with plants in the northern provinces of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Vinh Phuc. Last year, the company poured more money into its Bac Giang facility and expanded into Quang Ninh, another northern province.

The same day, the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee also awarded investment licenses three projects, namely Ja Solar PV Viet Nam photoelectric cells project of Ja Solar Investment (Hong Kong) Limited, Risesun New Material Viet Nam project, and Kodi New Material Viet Nam project of Risesun Investment Pte.Ltd.

The Ja Solar PV Viet Nam photoelectric cells project has a total output of 3.5 million/GW per year and a registered capital of US$ 210 million.

The Risesun New Material Viet Nam project capitalized at US$ 75 million will produce 46 million m2 of plastic products annually.

Meanwhile, the Kodi New Material Viet Nam project has total investment of US$6 million, producing decorative material PVC film products with a designed capacity of 70 million m2 per year.

So far, Bac Giang has attracted 472 FDI projects worth over US$ 6 billion./.
