Schools closed in 16 provinces, cities to prevent spread of COVID-19

VGP - Authorities of 16 provinces and cities nationwide have decided to close schools since February 1 after some pupils were found to have been in contact with COVID-19 patients.

In Thai Nguyen, schools are shut from February 1-16.

Schools are closed since February 1 until next announcement in Hung Yen, Tuyen Quang, Binh Phuoc, Hoa Binh, Thai Binh, Gia Lai, and Ha Noi.

Ha Noi also decided that all bars, karaoke parlors and discotheques must close and residents are told to avoid non-essential gatherings from February 1 to contain spread of COVID-19.

In Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Binh Duong, schools are closed from February 1.

In Vinh Phuc, pupils are asked to stay at home from February 1. Ninth and twelfth grade pupils will learn online.

Authorities in Luc Nam and Yen Dung Districts of Bac Giang Province decided to shut all schools from January 31 until next announcement.

In Bac Ninh, the Department of Education decided all pupils and students to stay at home from January 29-31 as the local authorities were tracking those coming in contact with COVID-19 patients there.

Hai Phong City released announcement asking students of all grades to stay at home from January 29 until the next announcement.

As Hai Duong is the current hotspot of COVID-19, the local authorities decided to shut all schools and universities from January 29 until next announcement.

As of 6:00 am on Monday, Viet Nam confirmed 1,819 COVID-19 cases, including 933 local infections./.
