Fifty localities close schools amidst COVID-19 resurgence

VGP – Fifty out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide have decided to shut schools in an effort to contain spread of COVID-19.

Viet Nam determines to contain new wave of local COVID-19 infections before Lunar New Year Holiday

In Hai Duong and Quang Ninh provinces, schools have been shut since January 28.

In Gia Lai and Bac Kan provinces, pupils were asked to stay at home from February 29.

Gia Lai and Bac Kan provinces closed schools from January 1.

Schools are closed since February 1 until next announcement in Ha Noi, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh, Binh Duong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Son La, Hung Yen, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Lai Chau, and Cao Bang provinces.

Other localities also shut schools from February 2, namely HCMC, Thanh Hoa, Long An, Can Tho, Dong Thap, An Giang, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, Quang Ngai, and Phu Yen provinces.

In Vinh Long, Phu Tho, Ha Nam, Dak Lak, Ninh Thuan, Tien Giang, Binh Dinh, Ha Giang, Kon Tum, Lam Dong, Lang Son, Kien Giang provinces, schools closure began on February 3.

Students in Dong Nai, Binh Binh, Lao Cai, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Bac Giang stayed at home from February 4.

Schools are advised to arrange online classes to ensure their students keep up with the curriculum.

COVID-19 spreads in schools

Ha Noi and Hai Duong house the biggest number of pupils and students infected with COVID-19 as well as a large number of others identified as F1 and F2.

Statistics showed that nearly 400 pupils in the two localities have to spend their Tet holidays at quarantine camps due to COVID-19.

Several schools have been used as quarantine camps for suspected cases including Lai Cach Town Primary School and So Do Junior High School in Cam Giang District, and Xuan Phuong Primary School in Ha Noi’s Nam Tu Liem District./.
