Viet Nam reports 19 new local infection cases of COVID-19 in five localities

VGP - Viet Nam confirmed 19 new community infection cases of COVID-19 on Friday, raising the national patient tally to 1,976.

Among the latest patients, 12 were reported in Hai Duong, three in Dien Bien, two in Quang Ninh, one in Ha Noi, and one in Ha Giang.

The nation is placing 80,113 people who came in close contact with COVID-19 patients or from the pandemic-stricken areas under medical surveillance and concentrated quarantine. Of these, 489 are being kept at hospitals, 24,362 at concentrated quarantine sites, and 55,262 at places of residence.

The same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc ordered the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to decide on proper measures to contain COVID-19 in order to minimize adverse impacts on people’s life and production.

The measures imposed by local authorities include isolating pandemic-stricken areas, quarantine, and lockdown.

The Government chief also asked localities to take those who come from the pandemic-stricken areas to centralized quarantine camps or to order them to isolate themselves at home in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s instructions./.
