PM extends condolences over devastating flood in India

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Monday cabled a message of condolences to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi over devastating flash flood caused by Himalayan glacier burst in Uttarakhand.

Seven persons were killed and over 125 reported missing after the “glacial burst” on Nanda Devi triggered an avalanche and caused flash floods in Rishiganga and Dhauliganga rivers in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand earlier the same day.

At least 15 persons had been rescued till Sunday evening, Uttarakhand Director-General of Police Ashok Kumar said in a tweet, adding that rescue operations are underway./.
