One new COVID-19 case confirmed, nearly 100,000 people under quarantine

VGP – Viet Nam confirmed one more community infection case of COVID-19 this morning, bringing the national patient tally to 2,070.

The latest case is a 22-year-old man in Luc Nam District, Bac Giang Province.

He contracted COVID-19 from his wife who had tested positive for the virus.

The patient is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

Of the country’s patient tally, 1,176 are local infections, including 483 cases reported in 13 cities and provinces since the third wave of community transmission broke out on January 27, 2021.

Hai Duong is the biggest COVID-19 hotspot in Viet Nam with 327 cases over the past two weeks, followed by Quang Ninh (53), and Ho Chi Minh City (33).

The nation is placing 99,854 people under medical surveillance and quarantine nationwide, of whom 809 are being kept at hospitals, 20,826 at concentrated quarantine facilities, and 78,219 at places of residence.

As many as 1,474 COVID-19 patients have recovered and exited hospitals to date while death toll stands at 35.

Amid complicated development of the pandemic, the Ministry of Health called on people to follow its 5K (in Vietnamese) message: Khau trang (facemask) – Khu khuan (disinfection) – Khoang cach (distance) – Khong tu tap (no gathering) – Khai bao y te (health declaration).
