The three-month-long survey shows that 70% of 169 interviewed enterprises preferred the retail sector to others including healthcare, biotechnology, and petroleum.

Việt Nam’s vigorous economic growth and opportunities from opening the retail markets have made the sector an attractive field for both domestic and international investors, said Mr. Matthew Lourey, Corporate Finance Director at Grant Thornton.

In addition, an apparent shift from traditional to modern trade services in Việt Nam has created new chances for investment.

Nevertheless, almost all participants found it relatively difficult to overcome hindrances relating to administrative procedures and legal system.

Investors also noted that information transparency on business activities is the most important factor for their decisions to pour money into Việt Nam.

Grant Thornton Việt Nam is a full member of Grant Thornton International which is one of the world’s six leading organizations of accounting and consulting firms, provides assurance, tax and specialist advisory services to privately held businesses and public interest entities in over 100 countries.
