According to the proposal made by Spectrascape’s representative during a recent working session with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Hồ Chí Minh City, the two sides should rapidly facilitate the direct export of Vietnamese rice to rural areas in Africa.

Since African consumers have to buy the commodity at higher prices from intermediaries, the deal will surely benefit them and Vietnamese exporters as well.

Now, African countries consume over 1 million tons of Vietnamese rice, or 20-25% of Việt Nam’s total rice export volume every year.

Việt Nam exported 2.3 million tons of rice, mainly to the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cuba, in the first four months of this year, according to the General Statistics Office.
