Van Don Int’l Airport re-opens after one-month closure

VGP – Van Don International Airport officially resumed operation from March 3 after more than one month of closure due to COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Viet Nam Airlines and Vietjet have resumed flights from and to the airport located in the northern province of Quang Ninh. 

The airport was closed on January 28 after local authorities conffirmed that several employees working there tested positive for COVID-19.

The airport was honored as the World's Leading New Airport 2019 at the award ceremony of the 26th World Travel Awards (WTA).

In 2019, around 1,800 flights, including 117 international ones, landed at Van Don Airport, with total number of handled passengers of nearly 235,000./.
