Socio-economic difficulties and security are top priorities of East Timor

VNGOP – Ambassador Lê Lương Minh, Vietnamese representative to the United Nations Security Council, at a discussion session of the Council on February 21, called on all the parties concerned in East Timor to proactively take part in peaceful dialogues to solve differences and speed up national reconciliation.

The Ambassador stressed that the parties concerned should focus on addressing socio-economic difficulties and ensuring security as their top priorities.

Mr. Minh confirmed that Việt Nam applauded efforts of the international community and the UN in supporting East Timor’s stabilization and development.

Việt Nam pledges to support the extension of the operation of the UN Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) to continue deploying missions to aid East Timor in consolidating peace and carrying out a national reconstruction strategy, added the diplomat.
