Also known by the name of ‘Hang Nga Villa’, the Crazy House is in fact a 1900 m2 resort with multiple constituent buildings. As the name suggests, the architectural style seen throughout this resort is anything but ordinary. With the prevalent use of free curves, and the lack of straight lines, square angles or flat surfaces, some have described the resort’s quirky architectural style as ‘expressionist’. Here, you can find houses that look like those in ancient European fairy tales, chambers resembling caves under the oceans, structures deliberately built to mimic what we find in the natural world i.e. things like tree roots, trunks, branches or spiderwebs.

Opened in 1990, the Crazy House has also attracted the attention of the international audiences throughout the years thanks to its uniqueness. CNN Travel once said in an article that the resort is a “woodland fantasy brought to life”. Likewise, the Chinese People’s Daily listed the Crazy House among the world’s top ten most bizarre buildings. The Crazy House was also featured in many of the publications from the Lonely Planet – a UK-based travel media company, as the resort makes its way onto the company’s global lists of ‘breathtaking human constructions’ or ‘secret marvels’.

Dr. Dang Viet Nga – the grand architect and the owner of this resort stated that through her creation, she wishes to bring people closer to nature. She hopes that the Crazy House can help people nurture their love and appreciation for the natural world, so that they could live in harmony with nature and prevent acts of environmental destruction.

The Crazy House not only welcome visitors during the day; it also features a number of guesthouses for tourists who are looking for a unique experience when it comes to holiday accommodation./.
