Viet Nam Welcomes U.S. Administration’s Decision To Teturn To Paris Climate Accord

VGP – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minster Pham Binh Minh welcomed U.S. Administration’s commitment to strengthen and accelerate international efforts in response to climate change, including the latter’s decision to return the U.S. to the Paris Climate Accord.

Minh made the above statement in his virtual meeting with John Kerry, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate on March 30.

According to a statement of the White House, President Biden took action his first day in office to return the United States to the Paris Agreement. 

Biden invited 40 world leaders to the Leaders Summit on Climate he will host on April 22 and 23.  The virtual Leaders Summit will be live streamed for public viewing.

The Leaders Summit on Climate will underscore the urgency – and the economic benefits – of stronger climate action.  

As one of the most vulnerabl countries to climate hange, Viet Nam remains consistent with its policy to support international commitments and coordinate closely with other countries, including the U.S. in handling challenges posed by climate change, Deputy PM, FM Minh reiterated.

Both sides discussed the implementation of the Paris accord and ways to boost cooperation in climate change adaptation./.
