Health ministry reports 3,898 new COVID-19 cases

VGP – The Ministry of Health announced 3,898 new cases of coronavirus on Friday morning, bringing the national caseload to 78,269 cases.

All the latest cases are local infections in HCMC (3,302), Long An (223), Da Nang (47), Binh Duong (37), Tien Giang (37), Tay Ninh (36), Dong Nai (33), Dong Thap (31), Binh Thuan (23), Ben Tre (20), Ninh Thuan (19), Phu Yen (15), Ha Noi (14), Kien Giang (13), Vinh Long (12), Nghe An (11), Can Tho (ten), Tra Vinh (nine), Dak Lak (four), Quang Nam (one), and Lai Chau (one).  

Of these, 191 cases were detected in the community.

Among the national patient tally, 76,140 are locally-transmitted cases of which 741570 were documented in 62 cities and provinces since April 27 when the fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence began. Lai Chau was the latest locality hit by the fourth wave with the first patient returning from HCMC.

Nine out of the above localities have gone 14 days without community infection, namely Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Hoa Binh and Bac Kan.

The total number of recoveries reached 13,421.

Among the current positive cases, 131 patients are being treated at intensive care units, of whom 17 are critically ill and dependent on ECMO.

On July 22, 43,720 more people were vaccinated, raising the total doses administered in the country to over 4. 41million. As many as 334,560 people have been fully vaccinated. /.
