Gov’t to purchase 20 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine Vero Cell

The purchase of the vaccine will be carried out in accordance with Article 26 of the Bidding Law. The Ministry of Health is responsible for purchasing the vaccine.

Vero Cell was approved for emergency use by the WHO in May and by Viet Nam on June 4.

Other foreign vaccines approved for emergecy use in Viet Nam are the U.K.’s AstraZeneca, the U.S.’s Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech, Russia’s Sputnik V, the UAE’s Hayat-Vax and Cuba’s Abdala.

Earlier, the Government decided to procure 10 million doses of Abdala COVID-19 vaccine and 19,998,810 doses of BNT162 vaccine made by Pfizer.

As of September 22, Viet Nam has administered 35,675,840 COVID-19 vaccine doses, with almost seven million having been fully vaccinated./.
