Daily COVID-19 infections drop to 1-month low

VGP – The Ministry of Health confirms 8,537 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, raising the national patient tally to 736,972.

The daily number of COVID-19 cases over the last month

This is the lowest daily number of infections over the past month.

The latest patients consist of seven imported cases and 8,530 domestic infections recorded in 34 cities and provinces, namely Ho Chi Minh City (3,786), Binh Duong (2,978), Dong Nai (803), Kien Giang (203), Long An (194), Tien Giang (112), An Giang (90), Can Tho (57), Tay Ninh (53), Dong Thap (40), Dak Lak (33), Binh Thuan (24), Khanh Hoa (19), Binh Dinh (18), Ninh Thuan (16), Ha Nam (15), Ba Ria – Vung Tau (13), Vinh Long (11), Quang Binh (9), Phu Yen (9), Quang Ngai (7), Ha Noi (5), Ca Mau (6), Dak Nong (4), Da Nang (4), Thua Thien-Hue (4), Quang Tri (4), Hau Giang (4), Ben Tre (3), Binh Phuoc (2), Tra Vinh (1), Nghe  An (1), Thanh Hoa (1), and Bac Lieu (1).

The national caseload includes 732,492 locally transmitted cases documented in 62 cities and provinces since April 27 when the fourth COVID-19 wave hit Viet Nam.

Sixteen out of the aforesaid localities have gone 14 days without a single infection: Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Bac Giang, Thai Binh, and Lang Son.

The same day, the ministry reported 12,371 new recoveries, taking the total number of recovered cases to 505,859. Among the current positive cases, 4,873 are in critical conditions.

The death toll rose to 18,220 after the ministry announced further 203 fatalities in Ho Chi Minh City (140), Binh Duong (30), Dong Nai (15), Long An (7), Can Tho (3), An Giang (2), Tra Vinh (1), Da Nang (1), Kien Giang (1), Ben Tre (1), Bac Lieu (1), and Thanh Hoa (1).

To date, Viet Nam administered 36,793,910 COVID-19 vaccine doses, with 7,259,412 people having been fully vaccinated./.
