Health ministry confirms 3,168 new COVID-19 cases

VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed 3,168 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, taking the national patient tally to 867,221.

Five localities hid hardest by the fourth COVID-19 wave

The latest patients comprise 9 imported cases and 3,159 domestic infections in 45 cities and provinces, namely Ho Chi Minh City (968), Binh Duong (439), Dong Nai (393), Soc Trang (174), An Giang (109), Kien Giang (99), Tien Giang (94), Ca Mau (77), Long An (68), Dong Thap (61), Phu Tho (58), Bac Lieu (48), Dak Lak (46), Quang Nam (45), Thanh Hoa (42), Gia Lai (40), Tra Vinh (33), Khanh Hoa (31), Hau Giang (28), Binh Thuan (28), Can Tho (27), Nghe An (25), Nam Dinh (22), Kon Tum (20), Ha Nam (20), Quang Ngai (19), Tay Ninh (18), Binh Dinh (15), Quang Binh (15), Vinh Long (14), Thua Thien-Hue (12), Ben Tre (9), Binh Phuoc (9), Ba Ria – Vung Tau (8 ), Quang Tri (8 ), Phu Yen (6), Ninh Thuan (6), Tuyen Quang (6), Ha Noi (6), Dak Nong (4), Bac Ninh (4), Thai Binh (3), Ninh Binh (1), and Ha Giang (1).  

The national tally includes 862,531 locally transmitted cases recorded since April 27 when the fourth COVID-19 wave began.

The same day, the ministry reported 1,136 fresh recoveries, raising the total number of recovered cases to 792,980, accounting for more than 91 percent of the total infections.

The ministry also announced further 75 fatalities in Ho Chi Minh City (51), Binh Duong (14), Dong Nai (3), Soc Trang (1), Lam Dong (1), Ca Mau (1), Da Nang (1), Tay Ninh (1), Tien Giang (1), and An Giang (1), bringing the death toll to 21,269, representing 2.5 percent of the national caseload.

The nation has administered 63,434,180 COVID-19 vaccine doses, an increase of 1,312,650 doses from Sunday./.
