The plan, proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), focuses on orientations, solutions and policies for hi-tech agricultural development (HTAD) in Việt Nam in such fields as cultivation, husbandry, forestry, aquaculture, irrigation, and agro-produce storing and processing.

At the meeting, many participants agreed that the Plan is very essential to create new breakthroughs in agricultural production, paving the way for rapid industrialization and modernization of agriculture.

The draft plan suggests four general criteria – technical, economic, social and environmental – for high technologies applied in agriculture.

Some asserted that it is necessary to adopt some criteria for hi-tech agro-produce too.

According to Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng, the plan should include specific solutions and take into account all stakeholders like farmers, enterprises, and cooperatives. He also underlined technical measures to guarantee food safety and generate high-quality products.
