Domestic violence minimized through specific plans

VGP – The National Action Program on Preventing Domestic Violence in the period 2010-2020, drafted by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, proposes six major nationwide plans in order to minimize intimate partner violence (IPV).

 Accordingly, from 2010 to 2015, it is necessary to complete the legal framework for anti-IPV; improve people’s awareness of IPV and anti-IPV; build up the database on anti-IPV; realize anti-IPV models and pilot the grassroots consultancy and assistance network for IPV victims.

In the period of 2015-2020, specific moves will be taken in order to popularize anti-IPV model and expand the grassroots consultancy and assistance network for IPV victims.

The target is that, by 2020, 80% of central and local mass media have their own column on anti-IPV and domestic balance. At the time, 60% of youths and adolescents are provided with knowledge of marriage, family and IPV.

In the short term, a nationwide IPV warning network will be built by 2010 and operated at local level.

The Program also consists of a plan on training anti-IPV workers.

The program is a move to enforce the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention as well as engage ministries, agencies, social organizations, non-governmental organizations and all walks of life in the work.
