Pupils in remote areas are beneficiaries of the DFID-funded  SEQAP

The new DFID-funded SEQAP aims to improve the quality of primary education and help children from disadvantaged groups access to high-quality education. This is a joint program with the World Bank, Belgium, and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training.

The credit for the PRSC will enable the Government to tackle the most pressing needs, such as mitigating impacts of the global economic crisis.

DFID was one of the first development partners providing financial support for the PRSC since 2001. In 2006, the DFID decided to allocate of £100 million over five years for the PRSC.

It was reported that Mrs. Sue Wardell’s visit to Việt Nam aims at reviewing poverty reduction here and discussing the future development partnership between the UK and Việt Nam.

In her meetings with the Deputy Minister for Planning and Investment and with the Government Inspectorate, Mrs. Sue underlined the importance of the UK's 10-year Development Partnership Arrangement with Việt Nam in the period 2006-15 as a basis for constructive dialogue.

She also chaired a session at the Asian Development Bank high-level conference on the ‘Impact of the Global Economic Slowdown on Poverty and Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific’ taking place in Hà Nội.
