National fund for science and technology development to be put into operation soon

In the first meeting session of the Management Council of the Fund held in Hanoi recently, Minister of Science and Technology Hoàng Văn Phong stressed that it was necessary to overcome difficulties at the beginning to put the Fund into operation soon, as directed by the PM. The Management Council and the Fund's executive body should put forward strategies for long-term development and collaborate with the competent agencies in setting up favorable and open mechanisms to bring into play scientists' intelligence and creativity, contributing to the increased quality and efficiency of the country's scientific and technological activities.

The Management Council also discussed major tasks, especially prioritized fields of research; methods of selecting and assessing donations; standards to recruit experts and others.
