Tanzania looks for closer education and agriculture cooperation with VN

Ms. Anne S. Makinda, accompanied by a Tanzanian legislature delegation, arrived in Hà Nội yesterday for a week-long visit which ends on November 16.

Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm believed that the visit would plant an important milestone in the history of the bilateral ties, helping to consolidate and enhance the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries in general and the two legislative bodies in particular.

Both the host and the guest felt pleased at the fine development of the bilateral relationship, especially in the field of politics. However, they noted, current economic linkages do not reflect the two sides’ potentialities.

The Vietnamese Deputy PM suggested the two countries set up a joint committee for economic cooperation to expand the current economic ties.

Ms. Anne S. Makinda said that she has good impressions of Việt Nam’s socio-economic achievements during the past years of renovation.

Tanzania now considers agriculture development as one of its top priorities and is looking for closer cooperation with and assistance from Việt Nam in this field, she stated.

For this matter, Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm revealed that Việt Nam and some African countries have set up successful models for agriculture cooperation, including one with Mozambique, saying that Việt Nam is ready to assist Tanzania.

Ms. Anne S. Makinda also hoped Việt Nam would help Tanzania to address its shortage of teaching personnel.
