WB: 35 million Vietnamese escape poverty
VGP - With the average annual economic growth of 7.2% in the decade before the 2008-2009 global economic crisis, 35 million Vietnamese people have escaped poverty, according to the World Bank (WB).

Water supply services and hygiene conveniences have been expanded. 95% of the population has accessed to the national power grid, and 90% used road networks in all weather conditions. Living conditions of and healthcare services for people in mountainous areas have been improved.
Thirty for WB-financed development projects have been completed and all other WB-involved projects have advanced significantly. The bank’s assistance programs focus on improving business environment, strengthening natural resource and environment management, enhancing the Government’s administration capacity, and stepping up social security.
The WB stressed that Việt Nam’s economy still faces many challenges such as stronger pressure on natural resources, adverse impacts of climate change and larger population groups vulnerable to natural disasters.
