Both sides discussed cooperation prospects in such fields like semiconductors, artificial intelligence, establishment of a free trade area, innovation, digital economy and green economy.

They looked into the possibility of establishing a legal support channel for Singaporean investors investing in Viet Nam, signing an agreement on carbon credits, and promoting collaboration in energy transition towards net-zero emissions target by 2050.

The Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister spoke highly of and voiced his support for the above cooperation areas, contributing to develop Viet Nam-Singapore strategic partnership in a more intensive and practical manner in the time ahead.

Viet Nam and Singapore celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and 10th anniversary of strategic partnership in 2023.

Last year, both nations established a Digital Economy and Green Economy Partnership, opening up new opportunities to promote sustainable development, particularly in such spheres as energy transition, digital economy, digital transformation, and green economy.

The bilateral trade hit US$2.4 billion in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 8.3 percent.

Singapore has taken the lead in ASEAN and ranked second among 143 nations and territories investing in Viet Nam, with a total registered capital of US$73.5 billion in 3,274 valid projects.

Within the framework of the Singaporean Minister's visit to Viet Nam, he had working sessions with the Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung./.
