These airports are Noi Bai in the capital city of Ha Noi, Cat Bi in Hai Phong city, Phu Bai in Thua Thien Hue province, Da Nang in Da Nang city and Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City.

The move aims to reduce traffic congestion at airport entrances and exits and create more convenience for customers and improve passenger service quality.

Trial phase was underway in Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat, the two biggest airports in Viet Nam from February 6 to March 19.

The ETC systems will be installed in the rest of three airports in March.

For Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai and Da Nang airports, vehicles entering and exiting within 10 minutes are charged VND10,000 (US$40 cents) for cars with less than nine seats, VND15,000 (US$60 cents) for cars with 10-30 seats, and VN25,000 (US$1.03) for cars with 30 seats or more.

The remaining airports charge VN5,000 (US$20 cents), VND10,000 (US$40 cents), VND15,000 (60 cents) and VND25,000 (US$1.03) for cars less than nine seats, 10-16 seats, 16-29 seats and 30 seats, respectively.

Vehicles entering the airport for more than 10 minutes will be charged an additional car parking service fee.

Since the trial program of non-stop toll collection was implemented from February 6 to March 19, there have been a total of 203,606 vehicles passing through the non-stop toll stations at Noi Bai International Airport and 132,926 vehicles passing through the non-stop toll lanes at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Nearly five million vehicles nationwide have been attached electronic toll collection (ETC) tags, equivalent to 96 percent of the total number of vehicles registered to use the service./.
