13th NA opens first session in HN

VGP – The first session of the 13th National Assembly (NA) was kicked off on July 21 in Hà Nội with personnel work on top of agenda.

The deputies will elect Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons of the National Assembly, members of the National Assembly Standing Committee, State President, Vice State President, Prime Minister, Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court, Head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, Auditor General, and Government members.

They will consider and pass orientations of amendment and supplementation of the 1992 Constitution.

The deputies will debate the Government’s reports on the realization of the socio-economic plans and State budget in the first six months of 2011 as well as solutions for second half this year.

The session drew the attendance of 500 deputies selected by around 62 million voters during the national election last May.

The Electoral Council and the Việt Nam Fatherland Front will respectively announce reports on the outcomes of the elections of the 13th National Assembly and People’s Council at all levels and voters’ opinions and suggestions during the last elections.
