Agro-products earned US$11.1 billion, up 6.2% from the same period last year.
Generally, almost all agro-products enjoyed export surge except for rice, rubber and peppercorn.
Rice export was estimated at 6.2 million tons and earned US$ 2.78 billion, and MARD said China has become the largest rice importer of Viet Nam since the beginning of the year.
However, other markets like the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia shrank their imports in both volume and value.
Coffee export was supposed to earn US$ 2.85 billion from 1.36 million tones, up 29.8% in value and 36.8% in volume. Germany and the US are the two largest coffee importers and Indonesia is noted for making a surprise nine-fold rise import from 2011.
Aquactic products were estimated to bring home US$4.5 billion, representing a 3.5% year-on-year increase. The US continues to be the biggest importer by acounting for 19% of the market share; followed by Japan 15.1%; and the Republic of Korea 7%./.
