All adults in eight localities fully vaccinated

These localities include Long An, Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau, Da Nang, Vinh Long, Hau Giang and Dien Bien. 

To date, around 128 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide with 73.3 million people receiving the first jabs and 54.4 million people taking the second shots.

As many as 90 percent of residents in the capital city of Ha Noi, Viet Nam’s epicenter Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Yen Bai, Can Tho, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Dak Nong have been fully vaccinated. 

A total number of 40 cities and provinces have recorded 100 percent coverage of first shot in adults. 

According to Reuters, during the last week, Viet Nam averaged about 1,504,866 doses administered each day. At that rate, it will take a further 13 days to administer enough doses for another 10 percent of the population.

The Ministry of Health confirmed 1,323,683 COVID-19 cases, including 1,318,381 locally transmitted cases recorded since April 27 when the fourth COVID-19 wave began.

The numbers of recoveries and fatalities were 1,010,407 and 26,483, respectively.
