Belgium grants aid to VN’s textile sector

VNGOP – The agreement to fund the Project "Capacity increasing in research, training and experimental development of textile techniques” (phase II) of the Vietnamese Textile and Garment Institute was signed on January 22 in Hà Nội between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Belgian Embassy.

The Project requiring a total capital of €1,222,000 (VND 23.5 billion) will be implemented for 36 months. Belgium pledged to give €1 million. The rest corresponding capital of €220,000 is mainly used to pay Vietnamese staff, prepare infrastructure, operate and maintain equipment.

According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Bùi Xuân Khu, the Project is aimed to consolidate the system of ecological laboratories, transfer technologies, and set up standard sizes for Vietnamese people in order to improve competitiveness of the country’s textile sector.
