Board sets up to manage international grants for economic growth and poverty reduction by meeting WTO commitments

VNGOVNet – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng signed on January 17 Decision 80/QĐ-TTg to establish the Management Board of International Technical Assistance for the project to maintain economic growth and reduce poverty through fulfilling WTO commitments.

According to the Decision, the board, which sits with the Government Office, will manage and use international assistance grants for the Government’s Action Programs to meet WTO commitments for sustainable economic growth, poverty reduction and solution of socio-economic issues arising during the process of international economic integration after Vietnam joined WTO.

The board is designed to receive and manage technical assistance grants and trust funds from the UK, Australia and other organizations; distribute the funds to public agencies, social organizations and associations; collaborate with ministries, ministry-level bodies, governmental agencies, people’s committees of centrally-administered cities and provinces in implementing the Government’s Action Program related to the realization of WTO’s commitments; provide guidance on the procedures and processes of benefiting from the funds and taking part in the Program for ministries, sectors and localities; monitor, inspect and remind of activities related to the Program; function as the major negotiator with the donors; and gather consultations and ideas on this matter and submit to the PM and relevant ministries and agencies for reference.
