Cần Thơ develops hi-tech agriculture

VGP – The Mekong Delta city of Cần Thơ is building three hi-tech agricultural projects which require over VND 3,100 billion in total.

There will be a coordinating center for hi-tech agricultural network. The center, together with research institutes, universities, and enterprises, focuses on research and development of technological advances to create high-quality crop varieties and animal breeds; providing training courses in new techniques; transferring technology and information; and marketing products.

The two auxiliary parks will apply high technologies in mass production of varieties and breeds, cultivation, preservation and processing products. They will coordinate with the center to carry out pilot production of rice, fruits, vegetables, cattle, fowl, pets and fresh-water aqua-products.

Up to 2013, these three establishments will have completed 12 projects on breeding plants and animals, developing eco-tourist orchards, growing clean vegetables, and training human resource.

They also provide services and transfer technologies to people, so as to ensure agricultural activities more effective.

Besides establishing an international-standard processing line of high-quality rice, the foundations will develop a rice distribution network at home and abroad.
