Central bank raises interest rates

VGP – The State Bank of Việt Nam on Thursday decided to raise its refinancing rate to 15% from 14% and inter-bank overnight lending rate to 16% from 14%.

The decision will take effect from October 10, 2011.

On the same day, the central bank promulgated Decision 2209/QĐ-NHNN on lowering interest rate on excess reserves balances (for foreign currency) down to 0.05% from the current 0.1% per year.
