Central VN funded with €41 mil. for poverty reduction

VNGOP – The fund will be spent to build the irrigation infrastructure in rural areas of Central Việt Nam through upgrading grade-1 and 2 canals.

French Ambassador to Việt Nam Hervé Bolot, Head of the Ministry of Finance’s Department for External Finance Nguyễn Thành Đô and Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) Alain Henry signed in the afternoon of December 17 in Hà Nội two agreements on grating a nonrefundable aid of €1 million and a loan of €40 million to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in order to finance the Project on Poverty Alleviation and Livelihood Improvement in Central Việt Nam.

The fund will be used to perfect the irrigation infrastructure in rural areas of Central Việt Nam by upgrading grade-1 and 2 canals; upgrading roads and rural markets to promote the circulation of materials and goods; increasing locals’ accessibility to fundamental services; and improving safety in coastal areas.

The Project will be put into reality in 13 central provinces, namely Thanh Hóa, Nghệ An, Hà Tĩnh, Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, Thừa Thiên-Huế, Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, Bình Định, Phú Yên, Kon Tum, Ninh Thuận and Bình Thuận.
