Viet Nam received the first batch of 811,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine through COVAX Facility - a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO, on April 1.

Since the country launched mass COVID-19 vaccination program on March 8, more than 66,360 frontline workers had been vaccinated in 22 cities and provinces, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry urged all localities to complete injection of allocated vaccine doses by May 5 or face having them redistributed.

Speaking at the Cabinet meeting on April 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh ordered the ministry and localities not to let any vaccine doses go to waste./.
