CPI goes up 0.27% in July

VGP – The consumer price index has increased by 0.27% in July against the previous month, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The July’s CPI picked up 2.68% against December, 2012 and posted year-on-year increase of 7.29%. 

In the past seven months, the index surged 6.81% against the same period last year, the record low over the last ten years. 

In July, CPI was affected the tertiary entrance examinations, rising petrol prices, adjustment of minimum wage band since July 1, 2013.

Prices of transport increased at the highest pace at 1.34% following rising petrol prices. Food costs went up 0.18% against last month after falling in four consecutive months since the Lunar New Year Festival. 

Gold and USD prices followed contradictory trends in which the former dropped by 6.28% while the latter rose by 0.68% against the previous month./.
