According to the latest report of the GSO, quite a few localities face with rising prices.

Noticeably, higher tuition fees, rising prices of food, petrol and medicines have caused immediate impacts on CPI in August.

In the first eight months, CPI has hiked up 5.08% against December 2009 and 8.61% against the same period last year.

Ten out of 11 groups of goods saw an increase in prices. The group of education reached a record high of 1.29%, followed by garments, textiles, footwear (up 0.51%), cigarettes, medicines and healthcare services (up 0.41%), household utensils (up 0.38%), and transportation (up 0.37%).

Housing and construction materials went up only 0.07%. Post and telecommunication services dropped dramatically to 4.55%.

The GSO projected that in September, CPI would continue to be on the rise.

In August, the price of US dollars surged by 0.48% against July and 5.41% against the same period last year./.
