Deputy FM Lê Công Phụng to attend AMM-40

VNGOP - A Vietnamese delegation, led by Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Lê Công Phụng, will attend the 40th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM-40) in the Philippines, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lê Dũng announced at a press conference in Hanoi on July 26.

The spokesman said that the AMM-40 (annual meeting of foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)), the Post Ministerial Conferences between foreign ministers of ASEAN countries and ASEAN partner countries and the 14th ASEAN Regional Forum will take place in Manila, the Philippines from July 30 to August 2.

The Manila meeting is organized at a time when the ASEAN is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the determination to accelerate cooperation within the grouping for the goals of building an ASEAN Community and an ASEAN Charter, he said.

According to the host country - the Philippines, the upcoming AMM-40 with the theme "One Caring and Sharing Community" will focus discussion on orientations and concrete measures to realize the goals of building an ASEAN Community and drafting an ASEAN Charter. The meeting will also discuss measures to narrow the development gap in ASEAN.

Post Ministerial Conferences (PMCs) will continue helping ASEAN expand its activities while ensuring its decisive role in regional processes.

The ASEAN Regional Forum will exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern, discuss measures to increase understanding and trust.
