Mr. Kalmykov worked as a residing reporter in Vietnam during the ‘80s. He attended the 5th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He was the first foreign reporter who interviewed late CPV General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Linh about renovation policy.

In the meeting, Mr. Kalmykov M.V reported to Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng the outcomes of the working session in the morning of April 03 between ITAR-TASS and VNA. The two sides summarized the achievements during nine years of bilateral cooperation and set up orientations for the future. The two news agencies also put forth some initiatives to strengthen the cooperation ties between the two countries. “In the time to come, ITAR-TASS will send more reporters to Vietnam which is now our important political and economic partner in Southeast Asia”, said the guest.

Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng highly appreciated the cooperation between the two news agencies, saying this helped cement the relationship between Vietnam and Russia. He expressed his confidence that the cooperation between  ITAR-TASS and VNA will continue to develop in the future. The two news agencies should function as the bridge for Vietnamese and Russian businesses in economic cooperation, said the Deputy PM.

Earlier, Mr. Kalmykov M.V and his ITAR-TASS delegation had talks with the VNA counterparts. The two sides reviewed their implementation of the Cooperation Agreement on information, professional and technical exchange.
