Mr. Nguyễn Phú Cường, the company’s director, said this is the second year Donatechno has signed durian export contracts.

He added that the US partner proposed the firm to sign long-term contracts and become the exclusive distributor of the fruit in the US market.

According to Mr. Cường, over 6,000 orchards, mostly in remote areas, have received the company’s total investment of some VND 30 billion to grow Dona durian.

The orchards are expected to produce some 2,000 tons of the fruit this year.

In 2009, Donatechno exported first 15 tons of durian to the US. In 2008, it also shipped 20 tons of the fruit to China.
