The signing ceremony was attended by Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization; and Pham Binh Minh, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The program aims to raise the awareness and responsibility of mass mobilization work as a whole and OVs affairs among officials and Party members of the Commission and the Foreign Ministry, contributing to successfully realizing the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress on mass mobilization, foreign policy and international integration.

It also serves the goal of renovating and improving the efficiency of OVs affairs, and facilitating coordination and consultation in order to bring the Party and State’s policies on OVs affairs into reality.

Accordingly, the two agencies will work together to provide consultations for the Party and State on the guidelines on OVs affairs and on the organization and operation of OVs mass organizations; and instruct and encourage the implementation, inspection and summarization of the Party and State’s guidelines, policies and laws on mass mobilization as a whole and on OVs affairs in particular.

The two sides will also collaborate with the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, socio-political organizations and the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, to widely mobilise and unite OVs.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Minh noted that the signing was a common effort and contribution of the two agencies in implementing the Politburo’s Directive No. 45-CT/TW on accelerating the implementation of Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on OVs affairs in the new situation.

The Party and State always see OVs as an integral part of the nation, he affirmed, adding that it is a common task of the political system to mobilize over 4.5 OVs to look back to the homeland and the country, with the Foreign Ministry and the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilization taking the lead in implementing this task.

The deputy PM asked the State Committee for OVs Affairs and relevant units of the Foreign Ministry to closely and drastically urge the effective implementation of the program, as well as hold periodical meetings to evaluate the implementation outcome and propose necessary adjustments.

On the occasion, the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilization presented the “For the cause of mass mobilization” insignia to Deputy Foreign Ministers Bui Thanh Son and Le Hoai Trung, in recognition of their sacrifices to the Party’s mass mobilization work from 2011 to 2015.
