Of the shipped commodities, rice still remained a leading hard currency generator as it made up 25-30% of the country’s total rice export volume. Senegal was the Việt Nam’s biggest rice importer in Africa, followed by Ivory Coast.

African countries are forecast to import some 9.8 million tons of rice from Việt Nam this year, or an increase of 2% against 2010.

Besides, other made-in-Việt Nam commodities like garments, footwear, aquaculture products have made a firm niche in various African markets.
