Gov’t chief look to robust trade ties with RoK

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng hopes that Việt Nam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) would work together to lift up the two-way trade turnover to over US $13 billion.

The Vietnamese leader made the point on June 15 in Hà Nội while hosting a reception to the newly-appointed RoK Ambassador to Việt Nam, Ha Chan-ho.

PM Dũng believed that the new diplomat would contribute to accelerating the bilateral ties in all fields, especially trade, investment, culture and education. 

“The Vietnamese Government pledges to create favorable conditions for Korean investors to do long-term business in Việt Nam”, affirmed Mr. Dũng. 

The Government chief proposed the RoK to maintain and increase official development assistance (ODA) to Việt Nam and the two sides speed up three cooperative fields that were agreed by their State leaders – nuclear power, building hi-tech zones and human resource training.

Both countries should put forth specific programs to prepare for the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2012, said PM Dũng. 

Ambassador Ha said that he would serve as a bridge to connect ministries and agencies of the two sides secure the success of the anniversary.

He also conveyed Korean President Lee Myung-bak's invitation to PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng to attend the 2012 Global Nuclear Security Summit slated for March 2012 in the RoK./.
