The census aims to collect basic information to serve the assessment of reality and the making of orientations, planning and policies for agricultural and rural development in the future.

The census will focus on three major domains, including the reality of agricultural, forestry and fishery production, rural areas, and rural residents.

So far, the GSO has finalized preparatory work on surveying methods and personnel training, according to Mr. Đỗ Thức, the GSO Director General.

Initial outcomes of the census will be made public this December.

The GSO will announce official results in Q3, 2012./.
