HCM City attracts additional billions of dollars

VNGOP – Hồ Chí Minh City has so far this year granted licenses to 312 foreign invested projects with a combined investment of almost US$ 1.14 billion.

Eleven other projects have meanwhile been permitted for increasing investment by almost US$ 180 million, bringing the total FDI to over US$ 1.3 billion over the past nine months.

As much as US$ 791 million was poured into 141 real estate development and consultancy services projects, while 99 industrial projects drew in US$ 252.4 million, and construction industry with 40 projects and US$ 39.4 million.

Of the 32 countries and territories investing into the city, the Republic of Korea takes the lead by investing US$ 644.5 million into 106 projects, making up 34 percent of FDI projects and 56.6 percent of investment. In terms of number of projects, Japan ranks second with 34 projects and US$ 20.8 million, followed by Singapore, with 30 projects and US$ 287 million, Taiwan with 27 projects and US$ 37.7 million and the US with 19 projects and US$ 11.6 million.

The city is now home to 2,470 FDI projects with a combined investment of US$ 15.83 billion.
