Health cooperation to be expanded between VN, Russia

VNGOP – Vietnam and the Russian Federation both obtain great leaps in socio-economic development and maintain a good political stability. The two countries should boost their multifaceted cooperation, especially in health.

Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng stressed so on April 13 while receiving Russian Deputy Health Minister Staroddubov V.Ivanovich and his entourage who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Staroddubov V.Ivanovich informed Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng the results of his working session with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health. The two sides negotiated and signed some cooperation programs on health development, in which Russia will focus on training healthcare human resource, especially students and experts; infectious disease control; and pharmaceuticals. The guest also revealed that Russian pharmacists had had talks with Vietnamese partners to seek for cooperation opportunities. Russia will plan to reduce medicine price for Vietnam, the Russian Deputy Minister added.

Russia is willing to provide and transfer modern health telecommunication services and mobile laboratories to Vietnam to develop medical treatment for people in remote areas. Deputy Minister Staroddubov V.Ivanovich proposed the two ministries of health to further share experience and scoure cooperation chances.

Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng asserted that the two countries should speed up cooperation and support not only at State but also ministerial and enterprise levels. He thanked the guest for suggesting strategic cooperation roadmaps which should be put into reality soon.

The Deputy PM also encouraged Vietnamese and Russian medical experts, universities and businesses to closely collaborate in exchanging professional knowledge and experience; opening more polyclinics and speciality hospitals; and applying technical advances in medical treatment.
